Summer Lessons 2012- Registration Opens June 1st

As we approach June 1st, I wanted to post about summer lessons.

We open for Summer lesson registration on June 1st 2012.

Please note that you get 4 summer lessons for every class that you take at Merriam on the 11 month payment plan, adults taking daytime classes usually are not on this plan, but you should double check with your Education Advisor. Adults can still buy lessons individually when ever it suits them.

If you do not use the 4 summer lessons they will be forfeit, there are also no make-ups for cancellations of summer lessons.

You can use your summer lessons towards any of the following: Summer lessons with me, lessons in another instrument, summer music camps at Merriam and please note that anyone in the family can use the lessons.

If you are specifically looking to take lessons with me this summer I am available for 3 weeks this summer, spaces and times are limited on each day, so if you want your lessons with only me you should be registering for your lessons with in the first week of June especially if you can only do a certain time of day.

I do lessons for Voice and Piano in the summer.

My summer studio is open to anyone in the Merriam school so spots will go quickly.

Vocal Keymaster Session- May 12th 2012

Hi all,

Please note the keymaster session for May 12th is being hosted by Tristan Cook.  Please see the topic details below.  Students can sign-up by calling reception or administration.

“Vocal Keymaster Session”

Making A Song Your Own

So often this phrase is thrown around American Idol, X Factor, “Whichever Country’s” Got Talent etc.  But what does it truly mean, and more importantly; how do you accomplish it?  Likewise in shows like Glee with unique Mashups and arrangements, what are things you can look for to approach a song in different ways without losing any musical, or artistic integrity while simultaneously captivating an audience?

This hands on workshop requires participants to be prepared to work on two different songs (though one will be chosen by the host.)

It is open to all faculties for voice only, or playing and singing on an instrument.

Please bring sheet music if you require accompaniment.
